The midwest industries Saiga quad rail is designed to fit all Saiga Rifles and is a clamp on, you do not need the AK ring lock to use this hand-guard. It is made with aircraft aluminum and weighs in at only 10oz . The quad rail is easy to install in just a few minutes and while it runs at a higher price ($110.00) than its polymer counterparts it is made up of quality parts and has held my light and forward grip in place for years, no issues.
I have not mounted an optic on it yet but based on its performance holding other parts I have no doubt in my mind it will hold a red dot or scope rock solid. The rail looks really good and definitely adds a unique feel to the rifle. If not adding a forward grip the texture is good for holding, and doesn't easily slip. However one should be aware that if putting a lot of rounds through the rifle without a break the hand guard will heat up, and can become a bit discomforting. That could be easily fixed by adding some rail covers or a fore grip. Another thing to mention is that when installing the hand guard make sure you use the supplied lock-tight as the screws will come undone without it over sustained firing, trust me, I know! The quad rail does cover the gas block and will require you to unscrew the (4) screws to the top cover so you can take the gas tube off to fully clean your Saiga, but its quick and painless. You don’t need to lock-tight these 4 by the way, as they
don’t mount the rail to the gun. This was my first Midwest Industries product and I would recommend this product and this company. The build quality, functionality, look, and the fact that it is made in the U.S. make this quad rail a go to.
